This was one of those titles that I took a chance on, and in the end I was greatly amused. The artwork is a little different, not as 'pretty' as some other titles but still engaging and enjoyable to see. The setting of the story is an office (a magazine of some sort), where two old college acquaintances cross paths once again. Shibui, with a secret weakness for sweets, seems to have something against Himeko, the very handsome and popular colleague, and of course things get played out in a way that won't be too much of a surprise to readers of yaoi manga. Still, this title is rather funny, with some touching moments and a couple of explicit scenes (definitely one of DMP's 18+ line). There's a good balance between all the elements in this book (smut, angst, humor). For all of Himeko's 'toying' with Shibui, there is real emotion between the two, which is nice to see.
4 starsI thought that this was a quick read - entertaining enough not to drag, but nothing all that special. There were moments that I really felt for the characters, but then there were also some decisions that I just didn't understand why the author focused on so much of the book.Specifically, one of the guys constantly harasses the other because he "loves him" and the other guy mentions a few times that he feels like prey being hunted by a snake. Not something that should be anticipated in a prospective partner.
Shibui has never forgotten Himeko. He’s also never forgiven Himeko. Once the best of friends at uni, a sudden confession from Himeko drove Shibui away in confusion. Afraid of what that confession meant and confused by his own feelings, Shibui never wanted to see or hear from Himeko again. Fast forward a few years, and now the two are co-workers! Aaargh! The stress of having to see and talk to Himeko Every. Single. Day. is driving Shibui crazy. And what’s with the anger that Shibui feels when someone badmouths Himeko?I enjoyed reading this one. It’s amusing to watch Shibui struggle with his feelings, mostly because he has no idea that what he is feeling is really love and affection. Some scenes made me laugh out loud, especially when Shibui hides under his desk when Himeko needs to see him about work related stuff. I’m giving this one a 4 for several reasons: I’ve re-read this with enjoyment. The characters are interesting, and I want to read more from this mangaka.
Shibui certainly leads a conflicted life. He's always secretly loved Himeko but two men together-can't be. This is a sweet office romance between two salarymen, one who knows what he wants and one who is in denial. Shibui's fear gets a little wearing, but Himeko is a dream, so constant, patient, and good-looking. The plot device is typical for this type of yaoi, but there are golden comedic moments. Look for the hiding under the desk, and Himeko's piercing eyes. This is a fairly explicit yaoi, and the chapter "Too Much to Ask" is, well, naughty. I smile every time I reread this.
I like the art style personally. Cute story, but short.
There wasn't much of story, nor romance, nor sex...I just liked Shibui being cute and well-drawn.But as Himeko whose to be the most handsome, I find he's art is pretty much ugly... Especially his giant hand.I hoped there was a more of story.It's acceptable overall.
