I love the Anita Blake Series...or at least I did for a while. I miss the mystery the early books had. I'm sick of hearing about what a self-loathing person Richard has become. Her work for the police and for the necromancy firm seems to have basically disappeared and has been replaced by on-going, poorly written, self-loathing sex scenes. I love the scenes from a few of the earlier books, but now it's become a chore for her and she still acts like it's some moral fight constantly. She needs to develope a little bit. her character does not seem to have evolved throughout the series hardly at all, and all the other characters lost all their own will and personalities.This book in particular did a lot of building with a lot of nitty gritty details as Anita dealt with a plethora of problems, with all of them leading up to a major confrontation where the mystery was solved. However, the mystery never felt front and center in the book, the mystery felt like it was thrown in there as a side "plot" to the more major theme of Anita saving everyone with her uber powers and pointing out how much better she is than everyone else in terms of her "morals". When you finally get to the big finale at the end, everything closes up so fast that it feels like Ms. Hamilton simply got sick of writing this one and just said enough to make it end, then threw together a quick epilogue to quickly tie up all the loose ends she'd made throughout the book. There was a weak grasp at tying a previous character in from a previous book, but it was not developed enough to really work well.I gave this 3 stars because I do really like these books, and she seems to come more to terms with herself i these than in the past books, BUT I have a feeling this may be the last book I read of this series. I no longer enjoy the direction these books have taken.

This series breaks my heart. First 10ish books were good to excellent. After that the series goes full erotica and the expense of everything that made the series good.

This book was exciting to read. It was hard to put down until I finished it. I loved the transformation Anita Blake has made from book 1 all the way to this book. Finally my frustration with Richard has been finally come to an end. One lesson I definitely learned that applies directly to me is be who you are and embrace it no matter what. Trying to fight against yourself is a loosing battle. Go Anita Blake for being a strong and exemplary woman. Well done Laurell Hamilton .

Honestly I do not understand all the negative reviews I saw for this book. I love the character development in this book. I was getting tired of the Scooby Doo mystery formula of the last couple of books. I even skipped over obsidian butterfly because I got bored. I wanted more romance, more magic, and I am glad Richard has been replaced. Some people have complained about the erotism but think it has always been in her books. This book just pushed Anita to overcome her prudishness and open her mind to new ideas. Bravo!

Absolutely phenomenal book. Most series lose you as they go on. They fail to evolve and grab you as they once did. Not so with Anita Blake. This series keeps getting better all the time. Seeing character development in even minor characters is an amazing thing. I am stunned by Laurell's ability to mix genres the way she has here and not seem convoluted. A clear progression of multiple plot points, great pacing and awesome action. I am thrilled by her attention to detail with Magic, Vampires and Lycans those subjects are close to home for me, particularly Necromancy and I admire her for honouring it so.

Hamilton weaves a great plot and plot is a big part of any book. Hot, spicy and a real go-around. However, she gets ever deeper into the psychological conundrum(s) of her lovers and friends and sometimes a book can become just a little bit too plot-heavy. It almost threatens even to topple Anita Blake as she is first dragged into and then becomes more and more tired - and I don't blame her! If you are a fan of Anita Blake - and I would buy her next book in a minute - it is all easier by far to follow. I love the way LKH seems to be able to pull off the trick of surprise after surprise from beginning to end of the book. But then, again, she does that in all her books. I am not a fan of S and M and that may be why I backed off a bit from this book because S and M can become deadly without constraints and the "bad boys" in this one are REALLY bad boys and seriously threaten Anita Blake and her lovers, all of whom seem to change a great deal as the stories progress. I loved the book - with SM reservations. Thanks, LKH. READ IT!

I bought the two books toghether: Easy Origami by John Mntroll, and this one. They are both very very good. They only have, I think, one figure in common, so they are both worth buying toghether. I am no expert at origami, except for the few things we all knew as a kids. The Easy Origami book is easy. This book is fun! Many of the figures are a challenge, but by no means impossible for the lay person. It takes a little patience, but the end product can be lots of fun. The Catapult actually works, the birds flap, the otter swims, etc...I'm glad I wasn't put off by comments of this being too difficult. It is more advanced, but the explanations are very clear, and especially the pictures are very well done, so that if you look at the picture of how the model is supposed to look after the instruction, you can figure out what you are supposed to do.The book is pretty much arranged from easiest to hardest, which makes it easy to warm up slowly toward the harder models.I have spent some fun time with my child working on these, they are definately not for small children to do, but he has just as much fun watching while I figure each model out.

I purchased this for my 8 year old who has been obsessed with Origami for the last year or so. He has grown bored with the basics and I was thrilled when I found this book, it's right up his alley! He spends hours a week creating masterpieces in motion with this book. I don't know if it would be suitable for most 8 year olds, like I said he is really into Origami, Art and creating things. Most of the pieces in this book are for those with some Origami experience and patience. That being said, the instructions and pictures are wonderful!

This is a great book! I took it to daycare, and the kid love it. They wanted to try everything, but we started out easy. Some of the harder ones were a bit difficult - the instructions were not too clear. Even with the illustrations, it took me awhile to figure some of them out. But we are working on them, and learning as we go!

This book is based on a handful of designs, and then there are a bunch of variations on that design. However, they're all fun to make and well illustrated.My son's were able to make the simplest figures on their own with no instructions. The older of the two is 7.I made some of the harder models and had to look up a few things on the internet to supplement the instructions, but that may have just been me.

The challenge (and pro) in this book is that you can make the completed model "move" by pull or push the model. And it contains some wonderful models, like the boat rower and the guitarist. However there are too many easy models here, and most of them can be found in other origami books. It's a good idea to make the model come to live, but I'm afraid some quintessential qualities of origami will be lost. A new and good try, but I hope this isn't Lang's new style. From the very beginning Mr. Lang's models are always highly expected and appreciated and adored by folders around the world, and always a challenge. So,fold us more super complex models.....

Great gift for my Great Grandson!

This was a gift for our 10 year old son and he loves the book and all the different things he can make. He has even taken the book to school and taught his classmates and friends how to make things from the book. He says that the directions are pretty easy to follow.

This book is very encouraging to read since it is written in very simple language. It has covered a wide range of topics with indepth explanations. I was very pleased with the diagrams and pictures that help in understanding the various concepts. I also liked the questions at the end of the chapters that test how much you have learnt in the Chapters. I think the author has done a good job in putting together real life situations in the textbook, and this is what made the book encouraging to read. Overall, the book addresses everything that is required for the CNA program in New Jersey. In addition the book comes with a CD that gives you step by step instructions for the procedures that are required for the CNA skills evaluation.The only negative of the book is the cover is inferior when considering the large size and weight of the book.

My wife used this book for her CNA class. It is a good textbook and recommended for those serious about their career.

McCracken County High School - a brand new high school in KY didn't have enough texts for our Daughter to bring home her book to study for her dual-credit CNA class. Perfect solution since she didn't need the computer access code, we bought just the book used from an Amazon seller. Awesome savings!

The book came on time but the package wasn't so strong. I ordered a new book that was "still in its original wrap" but it was ripped which let the warm air enter and made the first few chapters have that water-crinkled look. The package it was in was also semi ripped. Overall the book is great.

Arrived before expected date, and was the edition and product that I needed for my class. The copy was a great copy and included a cd.

This was in great shape when it arrived and was exactly what I ordered. No need to spend a fortune on a text book when you can get them at reasonable prices.

Overall, this textbook is very good! However, there are some clarity issues in a few spots (I don't remember exactly where, though) and some definitions could be explained a little better.

Book is very helpful with CNA classes and very easily navigated. Remember to use the index and read end of chapter questions.
