This textbook has been significantly damaged. The front and back are both worn down and tearing. Additionally, the front page appears to have grey stains.

I am a recent geology B.S. graduate and I absolutely loved my major. That being said, this book was a requirement for one of my classes and I have no qualms stating how much of a headache the problems in this book were. Not because they were hard problems, but because the book does a very poor job at providing quality examples. Some of the diagrams are also mislabeled (e.g. three point problems) which literally will leave a student at a roadblock -- forcing you to find another source to teach you how to solve certain problems.Furthermore, the appendices in the book lack randomized (or even/odd numbered) problem solutions such as can be found in most modern math, engineering, chemistry textbooks.Bottom Line: This textbook makes learning structural geology a huge turn off.

I enjoyed the class and lab. The text could use some updating but is clear on concepts. Expensive but worth it.

Great book, this is one of the few textbooks I'll look back at.

I only bought this book because it was required for class. Overall, it's not a terrible book but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's not the best for understanding if you have no knowledge.

Got the book for my structural geology lab. It came in good shape and arrived in the expected time. I heard you can get it for less though.

I got a used one and it was just fine. No pages torn out, even though I had to tear some out to turn in to the class. Stereonets are friggin' hard as a rock (that's what she said).

I bought a Ukulele for my youngest grandchildren (4 & 9) so I needed a beginner training book -- since they don't plan to take lessons. They already play the piano (or at least the 9 year old is proficient) but still this is a different type of instrument. The 9 year old also plays the guitar. With their knowledge and these great little books, it is simple for the 9 year old. The 4 year old is working her way thru the book and I think she's doing great. She hasn't lost interest yet. Thank you.

I have been teaching classroom music for over 30 years. I also teach guitar. I was always afraid to begin young children on guitar, because the coordination was too difficult for them. I discovered this book a few years ago. It is kid friendly. It has only a little music on each page, has fun pictures and clear explanations. A few years ago, I had several parents approach me to teach a guitar class to second graders. I have been using this book with the matching course book for about 5 years. The children love the book and are very excited as they advance through the pages. I see the advantage of 3 string chords, as well. The children learn to keep strumming as they change chords, rather than stopping to figure out how to make the chord. They also learn how to play simple melodies on the first three strings. The note speller is a great reinforcement of what they are learning in the course book. I highly recommend this guitar course to use for any beginning guitarist up through 10 years old.

I ordered the wrong book was wanting one for learning to play not write notes. I'm sure if this is needed it will be used later. No songs to learn to play.
