The book is very informative and includes everything. Many complicated tasks are accomplished by doing the basics well. Kleinert's book starts with this and gives readers the correct approach to all troubleshooting. I think that if you can remember the contents of this book, you can tackle any job. I will add that I believe readers will need to take their own critical thinking to each individual job. I could easily see this as a textbook in a technical program. I highly recommend the book to anyone who is interested in the topic.

Excellent book for helping to diagnose appliance problems. I have 2 of these that I purchased for my technical staff to use.We have over 400 apartments with kitchens that contain- Range,Refrigerator,Dishwasher and Disposal. Each unit also contains sleeve AC units in, bedrooms andliving rooms. This book has helped may staff to become more skilled at repairing these items,

Being publish in 2012 this is the most up to date book I have ever seen on appliance repair. Maybe it would be better to call this book a encyclopedia as it includes 1000 pages of appliance repair information! The author is a professional with more than 40 years of experience in commercial and domestic major appliances so even though I have about 25 years of appliance repair experiance myself I still found this book extremely useful. Having purchased the eBook version of this book I can easily access and search for information with in it on my laptop or phone well in the field. I would consider this a must have "Tool" for any appliance repair technician unless you have 40 plus years of experiance yourself. Kudos to the author for taking the time to share such valuable information in our field with so many others.

Got my book. Was everything as expected. Has very good information on everything. Plan on using it a lot. Has a lot of different references in it. Very handy.

This book has a lot of good information mostly on older machines. Also there is a lot of basic electrical info that could be useful for other repairs. There's even a section on the different types of appliances and how to select the right one. There isn't too much info on newer computer controlled/push button type of appliances.

Very comprehensive and laid out in a logical format. You don't have to read the whole section on the type of appliance you need to fix right away, but if you are going to own major appliances, it might be good to read when you are shopping for one just to know what suits your needs.

This kayak expedition follows the trail of famed plant explorer Frank Kingdon Ward. I read all of Ward's books and now I am wrapping up all of Heller's.Heller is readable and engaging regardless of topic. He understands our thoughts and contradictions, noble and otherwise. He tells a great story .The Painter is my favorite Heller work if you want to sample the first time. However, if kayaking or Himalayan trekking is just your fare you will find this most satisfying. As with all his works Heller gets the reader immersed, this time literally in the icy, thundering river of the Himalayas.I tend to read every work when I discover an author of this talent. I read all of Kingdon Ward's books nearly 20 years ago, and now Heller has brought me back to the Himalayas the only way I ever want to travel that treacherous terrain -- by reading. I got to know the intricacies of the expedition and its porters and the human side of inhumanly skilled kayakers who make the story notable. So grab your paddle and read this one or your brush and read The Painter a five star novel. Or visit the surf or simply go apocalyptic. Heller offers it all in his library.

I had read and admired several of Peter Heller's novels, but knew little about him. When this book was a recommended by Amazon, I leapt on it immediately. I've been a serious whitewater kayaker since the late 70's (good old days before the rivers got crowded), having taken it up after a serious climbing accident - back broken, both knees destroyed - but still needing a thrill sport. I identified with the author, hiking painfully on a bad hip along the river to document the descent. Most of my best friends are old boaters in their 60's and 70's, and we stand in awe at the exploits of newer generations of paddlers. Though we might occasionally complain " Well yeah, if we'd had modern boat designs in space age materials..." , hey, there's no question; these guys are the real thing, and I'm glad Heller was there to tell the story.

I'm a whitewater kayaker so I may have more interest in this story than people who don't kayak. Though I don't know the men who where on the expedition I do know of many of them and have read of them and/or seen them in kayaking videos. That being said, If you enjoy adventure you might enjoy this book even if you aren't a kayaker. There is a lot of real life drama and adventure both on and off the water. Hell or High Water may be the most engaging non-fiction book that I've ever read.

I heard about this book on "Fresh Air with Terry Gross" on NPR and ordered the book right away. Peter Heller's description of the dramatic and diverse eco-systems and scenery that he experienced would have been good enough, but, because of his background as a kayaker he was able to take it all to another level when he described the almost impossible challenge that the 7 kayakers faced navigating and traversing the Tsangpo. Then, on top of that, he described the personal dynamics that were going on between the kayak team, the support team, the porters and the sherpas. Just a great great book that is so engaging and keeps the reader on edge. It makes me want to travel to that river and see what he wrote so beautifully about. Just a great read.

This is an adventure book, and Peter Heller tells his story so directly that I felt like I had joined the party. It's a really fascinating, heart-racing story that reminds us that we can take on incredible challenges, face the hurdles, and achieve our goals. It's really wonderful.

This is a detailed, unsentimental report on an amazing trek and high-risk journey. You don't need to know one thing about kayaking to enjoy this rough and tumble adventure. The cultural barriers are as fascinating as the plunges down skyscrapers of water. The description of the topography and the characters on this journey are wonderful, compelling. This "Into Thin Air" on a ribbon of churning foam and turbulence.

I love Heller's books but I found this early effort way too filled with jargon and unnecessary detail. I eagerly anticipated an engrossing story about running those untamed rapids but felt the book wandered -- especially parts about the conflict between the author and some of the group leaders.

For a NON white water person the book describes the adrenaline addiction, self challenges, skills necessary to tackle the Tsangpo River, probably the most dangerous and inaccesible river in the world. It describes the physical challenges, political and cultural differences of sherpas and carriers. It describes the kyakers intrusion into sacred territory and the needless aggression of China over Tibet's indigenous people. Insight into high-achievers, and an unseen part of the world.

It's a good book. In my opinion, he could have put more information in it. I think there are holes in the story. Maybe the holes are there because he didn't know the information. He was a kid when he wrote it. To me it sounds like it took 3 years for him to get a recording contract. In the book he clarified something that I had been wondering about. It sounds as though the true story isn't anything of what I had heard. I heard he hadn't been around his mother at all while recording and touring. Because he mentions her many times, it tells me that she was with him every step of the way. He mentions walking to perform on stage and that his mother was two people behind him. He said he couldn't see her, but he knew she was there. He also mentions the broken foot. His mother was around, but he didn't mention her until he mentioned that his bodyguard put him on the couch. I got the impression that his mother was around him all the time, but she's not mentioned a lot. Because of what I had heard, I had the impression that his manager, Scooter Braun, was the only person taking care of him all of the time. That he became like a father figure. Now I know that his mother was around him all the time, but Mr. Braun still might have been like a father figure to him. It is mentioned in the book about Justin's mother being concerned about whether or not Mr. Braun would be a role model to Justin. Because of what Justin wrote, I now know the truth about one thing. His mother was always around him. It's none of my business, but I do know the truth now.

This is a GREAT book to read. It isn`t my favorite book, but that dosn`t mean that I didn`t like this book. Here are a few reasons why I really wanted to read this book in particular;I am a HUGE Justin Bieber fan!!!!! I have most of his albums on my iPod, collect a few of his trading cards, have cut-outs of him in magazines, have a few books about him,and, I even have a Justin Bieber singing toothbrush! It sings Baby in the mourning and You Smile at night. Also, I wanted to learn about his life before he got famous.Get the inside scoop aka inside information. I would recommend this book to people who want to learn about a smal town kid from Canada turn into a YouTube star and a pop sensation.ENJOY!!!!!
