About the Author
Prof Dogan Ibrahim graduated from the University of Salford with First Class Honours in Electronic Engineering. He then completed an MSc course in Automatic Control Engineering at the University of Manchester, and PhD in Digital Signal Processing at the City University in London. Prof Ibrahim worked at several companies before returning to the academic life. He is currently a lecturer at the Department of Computer Information Systems at the Near East University. Prof Ibrahim is a Fellow of the IET, and a Chartered Electrical Engineer. His interests are in the fields of microcontroller based automatic control, digital signal processing, and computer aided design.Dogan Ibrahim has been Associate Professor and Head of Department at the Near East University, Cyprus, lecturer at South Bank University, London, Principal Research Engineer at GEC Hirst Research Centre, and is now a hardware and software systems consultant to London's Traffic Control Systems Unit.

I am not new to embedded designs an C, but the PIC's awesome number of processors and function register names etc. had me baffeled, but this book was a disapointment to me. Right at the beginning it presents the PIC18 Explorer board. So to be able to follow this book, I ordered this board, before going to deep into it. Unfortunately, it never used this board, instead it used a more expensive one. I cannot understand why the explorer board was pictured and explained in detail right at the beginning and then an other book is used. Well, I am upset, spending an other $100 for the explorer board, but not being able to get any help from this $60 book. I will still be reading this book in the hope that there will be some useful info for me. One thing I like is that the program listings include the MPLAB XC8 compiler listings.Including shipping, this book cost me $70 and I did get about $5 worth of info out of it.This might be a great book for some, it answers a lot of questions well, if you are looking for answers to the PIC18F45K2 using the EasyPIC V7 development board.
Slow boat from Germany it appears .. It would help to have a tracking number to check on shipping process. Took almost 2 month to get here after ordering it. Finally arrive today. Package was torn for tear. But book in package was in great shape other wise. Worth the wait for the content and projects covered in it. Contain a couple projects that was great interest for me because I'm working on similar projects related at work and looking for details on those topic/subjects.
All projects explained in detail using xc8 and mikroC pro compilers,18f45k22 controller, which makes it really practical book
Do not use with Kindle. The examples are small pictures and their text cannot be made larger by changing the Kindle font.

Well this is the one and only book that "embraces" the mighty XC8. Deserves five stars.Even though some examples are not clear and Mr. Ibrahim uses some very expensive equipments from time to time, this is a great book.
