The economists who have contributed to this book are world class and some of the essays are very readable for the non-economist like me who took econ 101,102 in 1954. but some essays have a great deal of math equations and controlled modeling making it far too difficult for average me. However, the summations and insights are very helpful in my remembrance of Picketty and understanding today's wealth distribution inequities. There were new insights galore and the debates were illuminating. I am on the last chapters...not completely read yet.
A must read, even for those who've read Piketty's book: It gives you an idea how the debate about income inequality is developing among economists. Just about every contribution adds to the debate, and most are quite accessible even to non-economists. Very, very interesting, in some ways, even more interesting than Piketty's masterpiece - more fun to read too, you get to see so many different points of view. Highly recommended.
I read the entire Piketty Capital In the 21rst Century. It was refreshing to read After Piketty and read it in half the time. The book gives different perspectives on Piketty's book, some of the opinions go off topic. Be sure to have Piketty's book nearby to fact check.
