Praise for Foxcraft: * "Vivid details, intriguing characters, and a riveting plot are smoothly executed in this exciting new series. Beautifully rendered and magical." -- Kirkus Reviews, starred review "Iserles takes the actual habits and attributes of real foxes and mixes in magic and a complex social structure. Well-crafted fantasy of the furry kind." -- School Library Journal "A new epic animal fantasy that will make you love foxes, see the furless in a whole new way, and wish you could use fox magic like slimmering, too. Perfect for fans of Warriors and Guardians of Ga'Hoole." -- Tui T. Sutherland, author of the Wings of Fire series

This is a very interesting book. I have never read a book in the point of view of a fox. I prefer this very much so to Warriors, and even Survivors. The writing is more detailed and interesting, and the author is not confused with morals and claiming characters like Ashfur are good. It's extremely witty and interesting. It's about a young fox named Isla who wants to find her missing family. She meets villains known as "The Taken" who are after her, and also meets a mysterious fox named Siffrin who teaches her about Foxcraft; a magic foxes use for survival. Siffrin is one of the most well written characters of the series with mysterious motives. He's also one of my favorite characters. Overall, the book is very interesting. The point of view of a fox is exciting. I also like how they included a little glossary to explain fox-terms not explained in the actual story. It gives it a sense of style without being confusing. Keep in mind, though, that these books may be a bit mature. They aren't as full of death as Warriors (which is just ridiculous with death and suffering at times) but it can get very dark. The villain uses mind control to break the free will of innocent foxes, though this is shown as wrong and something fought against. It may require a more mature child, but is very interesting. There are three books of the series; and they have some good morals and good lessons better than most; making mistakes and remorse, justice, loyalty, courage, freedom, honor, and redemption, as well as a search for acceptance (as the series goes on). I highly recommend it to anyone who loves foxes.
(Re review) I have finished book one and two and I dying for the 3rd now. This has been a very good read and had no problem keeping my interest. I have ADHD and have a hard time concentrating wile reading. But not with this one! Well done to the writer and her work, aside from erin hunter this is one of my new favorite authors! I really hope book three won't be the last one, there is so much going on between all the characters Isla's search for her brother Pirie, Jana and the rest of the elders, the mage's army of taken. and the suspense between Isla and Siffrin is killing me.
If you like warrior cats, READ THIS! This is written in the same type of format and its about another lovely creature: a Fox! I didn't know how good this book would be until I started reading it. In all it took me two days to finish it, only because it was so good and I practically read all day. SO I GUARANTEE THIS BOOK FOR YOU IF YOU LIKE "Wolves of the Beyond" by Kathryn Lasky OR "Warriors" by Erin Hunter. It's just fascinating.
OMG I loved this book it is SO good. To me, the storyline is great, no, terrific, and Inbali Iserles has done a great job on characters, setting, events, everything! So seriously, where is book 2? My daughter really likes this book & has read series like dork diaries, diary of a wimpy kid, survivors books. She really wants to get the 2nd one I will order it for her this summer to read. My daughter is 14.
I love foxes and reading about them in a similar way as the cats of the Warriors books is great. So I would recommend this book to anyone who reads the Warriors book.
Beware, after reading this book, you may begin looking at the world from the point-of-view of a fox! I purchased this book for a book project for my grandson. When I read the book, my first thought was "Wow! There are so many adjectives!" The book is written in a very descriptive style; that at times, makes it difficult to follow. It helped me to make a flowchart of the characters and locations as I read the book. For my grandson's book project, I make note of vocabulary words that I believe he may not be familiar with. I easily found two pages of double rowed words that we could discuss. This week I am reading the book out loud to him, and I am enjoying the book more than I did the first time I read it. I see hints of things to come that I did not understand the significance of the first time I read the book. We read, then stop and discuss what has happened, and I clarify some of the areas that confused me during my first read. I believe this book would be good for parents or teachers to read out loud to their children/students. Young writers will learn new vocabulary and will learn to be descriptive in their writing. I'm looking forward to reading the next two books in the trilogy -- THE ELDERS and THE MAGE.
If you are looking for a series for your young reader to start, is definitely recommend Foxcraft. Inbali Iserles's tales pulls the reader into the story quickly and deeply, grabbing your imagination and not letting go.My 13-yr-old is quite the experience reader and can't stop talking about Foxcraft.
